2 Dead, Driver Seriously Injured In Route 1 Linden Crash
Two people were killed in a crash overnight on Route 1 in Linden, authorities said. A 2013 Infiniti Sedan was heading north when it struck a tractor-trailer turning left onto S. Stiles Street from the southbound lanes around 3 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, police said. One of the passengers was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver and a second passenger were both taken to Newark University Hospital with serious injuries, where the second passenger died. Police were looking for a man who had been harassing women while naked in a South Brunswick apartment complex, authorities said. The South Brunswick Police Department said a man has been approaching women at least five times in the parking lot of the Royal Oaks & East Garden Apartment Homes since July. The only article of clothing the suspect wore was a ski mask. Investigators said the man goes up to the women and "aggressively manipulates his waist area." Newark Man Struck By Vehicle In Linden: Police
A 63-year old Newark man was struck by a vehicle in Linden on Tuesday, Sept. 10, authorities said. The crash occurred at midnight on the 1700 block of Route 1, Linden police said in a release. A 2018 Honda CRV was traveling southbound when it collided with the man, police said. The man was treated on scene and taken to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said. He is listed in serious condition, police said. No additional injuries were reported, and the driver of the vehicle is cooperating with Investigators, police said.

A tractor-trailer caught fire in Edison, shutting down most lanes of a busy road during morning rush hour, officials said. The fire happened on Route 1 south of the intersection with Grandview Avenue on Thursday, Sept. 5, the state Department of Transportation said. An alert was posted about the incident at 8:28 a.m. The NJDOT reported all northbound lanes of Route 1 were closed. Three southbound lanes were shut down, leaving only one lane open. Motorcyclist, 45, Killed In Route 1 Crash: Police
A 45-year-old motorcyclist from Essex County was killed in a crash on Route 1 in Edison, authorities said. Alexander Chong of Belleville was killed when he struck the rear of a vehicle stopped at a red light, Edison police said. He ended up under the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. The crash occurred at about 8:15 p.m. on Sunday, July 28 northbound near Old Post Road North. The crash occurred at about 9:45 a.m. on Thursday, June 27 northbound near Adams Lane in North Brunswick Township, according to the NJDOT and local police. William Koerner was last seen walking toward McDonald's on Route 1 on Wednesday, May 1, at 9:30 p.m. Police did not release his age. Two people were killed in separate crashes in South Brunswick including a motorist from South River and a motorcyclist from Pennsylvania, authorities said. At 5:56 a.m. Tuesday, April 23, officers were alerted to a single-car crash on Route 535.
