Raging Fire Consumes Paterson Warehouse, Threatens Neighboring Buildings
Several dozen firefighters doused a roaring pre-dawn fire in Paterson on Sunday that destroyed a warehouse owned by one of the Silk City's oldest businesses while threatening neighboring buildings. Flames shooting through the roof met firefighters when they arrived at the Levine Industries warehouse on Florida Avenue near East Railway Avenue shortly after 4:30 a.m. The roof eventually collapsed as they worked to drown the fire from various angles, keeping it contained. The two-alarm blaze -- which went to two alarms for manpower -- was declared under control a little over an hour later. …

Paterson Firefighters Douse Vacant House Blaze
Firefighters doused a blaze that ravaged a vacant Paterson house. No injuries were reported in the fire, which broke out in the 2½-story building on Plum Street around the corner from St. Joseph's Childrens Hospital near Route 80 shortly before 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 17. All firefighters were ordered out within minutes. The blaze was under control barely an hour later. Ron Bombaro (tornadochaser66 on YouTube) took the photo.

SEE: Jitney Bus Plows Into Paterson Apartment
UPDATE: Firefighters reported only minor injuries after a jitney collided with an SUV and slammed into a ground-floor apartment in Paterson overnight. City Wide Towing removed the bus on a flatbed after it knocked a fire hydrant off its base and crashed into the three-story building at the corner of Pearl and Summer streets around 2 a.m. Saturday. A sedan parked in front of the building was also damaged but not severely. The Chevy SUV sustained serious damage. Police were investigating the cause of the crash.
