: Paterson Firefighters Lift Jitney Bus Off Struck Pedestrian
A group of heroic Paterson firefighters didn't have time to retrieve special equipment, so they grabbed hold of a dollar bus and lifted it off a woman who'd just been struck, authorities said. The pinned 53-year-old victim was alert and conscious after the accident on McBride Avenue near Hoxey Street shortly after 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 14, Fire Chief Brian McDermott said. Two tow truck operators came to rescue of a dump truck driver who was trapped when his rig rolled during the morning rush on Route 46. Edward Spina Jr. from ECRB Towing & Recovery in Bloomfield and JT Sagun from Nick’s Towing Service in Rutherford were both headed to work when the trucker's brakes locked up ahead of them around 7:45 a.m. Friday. Troopers Catch Suicidal Woman Trying To Jump From South Jersey Overpass
A pair of New Jersey State Troopers and a Glouceter Township officer are being hailed as heroes after rescuing a suicidal woman from leaping off of an overpass. Troopers Corey Beczo and Brandon Muessig were dispatched to the Route 42 overpass at exit 10A for the report of person sitting on the guardrail around 12:35 p.m. July 26. Flames rolled across the ceiling and smoke filled the home as Hasbrouck Heights Police Officer Christopher Connors dashed upstairs and carried a 65-year-old woman in a wheelchair to safety on Monday. A 23-year-old American tourist who fell into Mount Vesuvius in Italy when he dropped his phone taking a selfie was rescued, NBC News reports. Philip Carroll, of Baltimore, MD, had hiked 4,000 feet up a trail that was closed to tourists with two family members on Saturday, July 9, the outlet said citing Paolo Cappelli, President of the Presidio Permanente Vesuvio. Fallen Jet Skiers Rescued From Bayonne's New York Bay
A pair of jet skiers who had fallen off and were being swept away by the current were rescued from the New York Bay on Sunday, July 10. The call came in around 1:45 p.m. in Bayonne, and the couple was found by the Bayonne Cruiseport. Members of Royal Caribbean and Port Authority of NY/NJ tossed life things to the pair, trying to make it toward the shore. A Bayonne Fire Department marine unit put a rescue swimmer in the water, and firefighters were able to remove both victims safely. The female victim was hospitalized while the male was treated at the scene and released.

Near-Drowning Victim Revived By State Police At Sussex County State Park
State Police were quick to save the life of a 50-year-old man who nearly drowned at a state park in Sussex County. Troopers responding to a report of an unconscious man at Swartswood State Park found the victim submerged in water around 10:15 a.m. on Thursday, May 12, New Jersey State Police said in a release on Monday, June 27. Responders rescued a jumper who was hanging off the side of the new Tappan Zee Bridge.
