Thousands of New Jersey residents woke up Monday morning, Aug. 19 without power due to Sunday's storm. And according to the National Weather Service, more stormy weather could be on the way for later in the day. As of 6:40 a.m., JCP&L was reporting the most outages with the following areas without power: Clinton, 880; Branchville, 150; Hopatcong, 215; Long Branch/Asbury Park, 350; Lakewood, 265. Power Outage Update: Storm Leaves Hundreds Of NJ Residents In The Dark
A storm system that swept through the region Saturday afternoon, Aug. 3 left hundreds of North Jersey residents without power. As of 5:40 p.m., about 950 PSE&G customers in Hackensack did not have power, its website shows. In Closter, 145 Orange & Rockland customers were in the dark. In West Milford, more than 500 residents did not have power. Most of those customers were JCP&L. The storms, which brought temps down to the high-70s, had subsided as of press time.

A FedEx driver was drunk when he crashed into a utility pole in Hackettstown on Tuesday, July 16, authorities said. Sayreville Explosion Knocks Power To 4,300
An explosion in Sayreville injured one person and left some residents without power, police said. The explosion occurred about noon on Friday, May 24 near Main Street and Sayreville Boulevard, police said in a release. Sayreville police said a related fire was under control. Two people were injured after a train hit overhead wires which then struck three cars in Elizabeth on Monday, May 20, authorities said. Driver Seized After Sunday Morning Crash Splits Utility Pole In Ridgewood
A driver was taken after custody following a Sunday morning crash that snapped a utility pole in Ridgewood, causing scattered power and communications outages in the area. The uninjured driver was brought to Glen Rock police headquarters for a blood-alcohol test and then to village headquarters after the Acura RLX slammed into the pole on North Van Dien Avenue shortly before 8:30 a.m. March 3. Nearly 2,000 residents were without power Tuesday afternoon, July 25 in one Union County town.
