Meet Millie: North Jersey Police Officers Deliver Baby Girl
Her name is Millie, and she's doing just fine. Sparta police officers helped deliver the baby girl on Monday, Jan. 15 on Route 35. Parents Tyler and Stephanie had called police as Stephanie was in active labor on Route 15 south near the Jefferson line just before 9 p.m., officials said. In less than a minute, Officer Christopher Botta found the vehicle pulled over on the shoulder of Route 15. Botta saw the baby's head crowning and made sure the umbilical cord was not wrapped around the baby's neck. After confirming everything appeared normal, seconds later, Stephanie delivered the ba…

NJ Transit: Wise Out-Of-State Boy, 11, Who Got On Wrong Light Rail Reunited With Parents
A vacationing 11-year-old boy from Houston who mistakenly boarded a departing light rail in Jersey City without his parents was a cool customer, an NJ Transit officer said. The boy didn’t realize they weren’t behind him when he excitedly dashed onto the wrong Hudson–Bergen light rail Friday morning at Exchange Place. You could understand his enthusiasm -- visiting a busier-than-usual New York City blessed by beautiful weather during a momentous anniversary. Realizing his mistake, the boy got off at the next stop, NJ Transit K9 Officer Michael Brown said. He pulled out his cellphone, calle…

Wood-Ridge Officers Clear Way For Newborn's Arrival
The sound of a newborn baby’s cry was music to the ears of two Wood-Ridge police officers who arrived moments after he did. Directed by new dad Michael Jackson to a second-floor bathroom where his wife had just given birth shortly before 3 a.m., Officers Roberto Cangialosi and Michael Mueller detected a heartbeat. Aleksandra "Sasha" Jackson had told them she “woke up with some pain in her back and abdomen” and “went into the bathroom thinking she was possibly suffering from minor intestinal pains,” Cangialosi said. Then the baby’s head crowned. Cangialosi said he and Mueller “began cleani…

Several Vernon police officers jumped into action to help a woman give birth when she went into active labor at a local resort last week, authorities said. Josie Rodriguez was staying at Appalachian Hotel on Route 94 when her water broke shortly after 12:15 p.m. last Thursday, township police said on Facebook. Officers Abigail Lorenz and Colton Rembish arrived and helped Rodriguez into the bathtub. Her contractions were getting closer by the minute and soon, the baby was crowning, "making it abundantly clear the baby could not wait any longer," police said. EMTs from St. Clare’s arriv…

'Unbelievable': Sparta Officers Help Mom Deliver Baby At Home
A new mom from Sparta is sharing the intense experience of delivering her baby in her own home -- but not without the help of three police officers. Lindsey Schlott and her husband, Brad Scheller, were concerned that COVID-19 precautions would prevent them from being together during the birth of their child. “I was pretty panicked about the idea of my husband not being there," Schlott told Daily Voice. "When I saw that there was a possibility that my husband wasn’t gonna be there, I thought, ‘I don’t want to do this by myself.’” On the evening of March 24, the couple talked with their dou…
