Man Killed By Police In South Jersey Identified, Details Released
Authorities have released details and identified the man killed by police on Saturday, Oct. 19in Burlington County. Officers responding to smoke coming from a Pemberton home on Woodland Avenue around 3:20 p.m., New Jersey Attorney General Matthew Platkin said. They were notified that a man later identified as Marvin Taylor, 57, had a firearm and was in the backyard. Officers commanded Taylor to drop the weapon, as they positioned themselves in the wood-lined area behind the home. Wildfire Consumed 35 Acres In Pine Barrens Forest, Elevated Risk Across NJ Reported
Firefighters were battling a second wildfire in Burlington County in less than a week, officials said. Crews responded to the "multi-acre" fire near Mary Ann Forge Road in the Brendan T. Byrne State Forest in Pemberton Township on Wednesday, Oct. 16, the state Forest Fire Service (NJFFS) said in a Facebook post. The vehicle of a 37-year-old woman missing for a month has been found disabled in a New Jersey State Forest, authorities said. Danielle Lopez's 2008 2-door blue Hyundai Accent was found disabled on Lost Lane Road in Penn State Forest, Woodland Township, New Jersey State Police announced on Wednesday, May 22. A motorcyclist lay dead and his passenger seriously injured in the middle of a South Jersey intersection following a crash during a police chase, footage released by state authorities shows. A Burlington County man was sentenced to eight years in state prison for causing the death of a 21-year-old college student who overdosed on fentanyl-laced heroin that she purchased from him, authorities said. A 4-year-old Burlington County boy died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound Friday night, authorities said. The call came in from the the Brown Mills section of Pemberton Township, about five miles from Fort Dix, at 7:07 p.m., Burlington County Prosecutor Scott Coffina said.
