Gunman Convicted In Mass Shooting That Killed 1, Hurt 3: Hudson Prosecutor
A gunman has been convicted by a Hudson County jury in a 2019 mass shooting that left a 40-year-old North Bergen victim dead, authorities announced. Jonathan Haughey-Morales, 30, was convicted on Wednesday, March 2, on all charges relating to the shooting that killed Carlos Garcia and seriously injured three others in 2019, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said. Jersey City Man Gets 35 Years For 2018 Street Killing
A 28-year-old Jersey City man was sentenced to 35 years behind bars for the street shooting of another man in 2018, authorities announced. Superior Court Judge Patrick J. Arre on Aug. 5 sentenced Michael Weathersbee to a term of 30 years in state prison for a murder charge and another five years for a weapons offense -- both without parole, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said. Union County Con Who Had Jersey City Murder Conviction Overturned Pleads Guilty To Lesser Count
A convict from Union County who's spent the past 13 years behind bars will be eligible for release in four years after pleading guilty to a lesser charge for killing a Jersey City man. Zia Berisha, 46, of Linden, had his murder conviction for the Nov. 6, 2007 shooting and beating death of Michael Marro Jr. of Jersey City in a downtown high-rise killing overturned in 2019 by a state appeals court that sent the case back to Hudson County for a do-over.
