Port Authority Officer Charged With Filing Bogus Medical Reports To Collect Paid Leave
A 13-year Port Authority police veteran illegally milked a paid medical leave by submitting bogus records, authorities charged. Marie Paz, 43, was charged with two counts of forgery before being released pending a May 13 first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Jersey City, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said. Feds Arrest NJ Post Office Custodian In $15,000 Theft Of Checks, Cash
Federal agents on Thursday arrested a custodian who they said stole $15,000 in checks and cash while working at an Essex County post office. Mark Gregory Jr., 27, of East Orange, swiped checks from the mail stream and cash paid by customers at a Maplewood post office, U.S. Attorney Craig Carpenito said. Gregory deposited those checks into his own bank accounts in New Jersey and elsewhere, Carpenito said. NJ Landlord Demanded Sex For Housing, Lower Rents, Justice Department Charges
For at least 15 years, an Elizabeth landlord has demanded sexual favors from tenants to get or keep apartments while offering reduced rent to others in exchange for sex, federal authorities charged. Joseph Centanni, who owns hundreds of rental units in and around Elizabeth, “initiated or threatened to initiate eviction actions against tenants who objected to or refused his sexual advances,” U.S. Attorney Craig Carpenito said Wednesday.
