Bergen County Man Victim Of Double Fatal Wrong-Way NY Crash: Police
A Bergen County man was identified by authorities as one of the two people killed in a wrong-way, head-on crash overnight in New York.
George Gonzalez, 68, of Dumont, was heading north in the southbound lanes of I-87 in a 2017 Toyota RAV4, when he drove into a 2022 Nissan Altima around 1 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 6 in Tuxedo, New York State Police said. Gonzalez's car became engulfed in flames.
The Altima driver was identified as Yehuda Weinstock, 67, of Chester, NY. Both men were pronounced dead at the scene. Neither vehicle had any passengers.

A Honda was heading south on Broad Street when it hit a northbound Mazda Sunday around 7 p.m. at Central Avenue, Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II, said in a joint release.
The Mazda was sent into a Toyota on impact, killing Honda passenger Elba Galarza, 77, of Glen Ridge, and Clarise Pizcha, 11, a rear seat passenger in the Mazda, authorities said.

Police: Warren County Man Was Twice Legal Drink-Drive Limit When He Fled Crash Scene
A Warren County man's blood alcohol level (BAC) was more than twice the legal drinking and driving limit when he left the scene of a crash, authorities charged.
Michael Pedersen, 31, left the scene of a crash in Washington Borough just before 11:30 p.m. Thursday, August 6, township police said in a release.
Officers stopped Pederson on the 100 block of Route 57 E. and observed the front-end damage to his vehicle, authorities said.
His BAC was tested at .17, authorities said.

Chilling videos posted to Instagram show the three victims of a late-night Woodbridge crash singing and dancing just moments before they died, the New York Post originally reported.

A drunken UPS driver from Secaucus who crashed his truck in Teaneck jumped out and ran away, leaving his injured helper pinned inside, said police who captured him a short time later.
A Bergen County sheriff's K-9 unit tracked down Matthew Montgomery, 35, who was found hiding in a backyard on Park Avenue by Teaneck and Bogota police, Capt. Michael Ferrante said.
