Prescription Pill Found In NJ Trick-Or-Treater's Halloween Candy: Police
A New Jersey trick-or-treater unfortunately got both this Halloween. A sedative prescription pill identified as Clonazepam was found in a child's candy this year in Sayreville, local police said. The pill was found in the bag pictured above, along with various pieces of “mixed candy," police said. The bag is a clear ziplock style bag with candy corn imprinted on it. A Montclair resident took to TikTok in an effort warn others after a terrifying encounter with a burglar in his home over the weekend. A woman has been charged with making a terroristic threat after allegedly threatening to "shoot up" an elementary school in Union Township. Officers were called to Jefferson Elementary School on Hilton Avenue around 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 7, after a principal told them that a student's parent became upset with her and threatened to "shoot the whole place up," local police said. UPDATE: The body of a 15-year-old boy from Paterson who drowned in a Passaic County reservoir while swimming with friends was recovered Sunday morning, authorities said. Local and state police were at the scene of a shooting in Phillipsburg Tuesday afternoon, developing reports say. The agencies responded to Chambers and Washington Streets in Phillipsburg shortly before 3:50 p.m., according to initial and unconfirmed reports. A state police helicopter was probing the area as well, the initial report said. Authorities did not immediately respond to DailyVoice.com’s request for additional information. Elementary School Fire In Passaic County Quickly Doused
No injuries were reported in a pre-dawn classroom fire Tuesday at the Haskell Elementary School. No children were in the building when the blaze broke out in a classroom at the Ringwood Avenue school shortly before 7 a.m. and was quickly extinguished, responders said. It caused a significant amount of smoke damage in the building, they said. A cause wasn't immediately disclosed. Dog Attack Sends 2 To Hospital In South Brunswick
Two people were hospitalized after being attacked by a family dog in South Brunswick on Tuesday, police said. A man in his 50s and woman in her 60s were bitten by the family dog, a pitbull, at a house on the 100 block of New Road, local police said. The victims were taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, authorities said. Their conditions were not known as of Wednesday morning. Responders included local police, EMS and animal control officers.

A 5-year-old boy was airlifted with traumatic injuries after he was hit in the head by a puck at a Hopatcong hockey rink, authorities said. Emergency crews responded to the Hopatcong Roller Hockey Rink and found the boy bleeding profusely from the head around 12:50 p.m. Sunday, local police said. The boy was pale and could not respond to verbal commands as officers determined that he had gone into shock, police said. Police: Bogus Contractors Solicit 'Way Too Much Money' From NJ Homeowners In New Scam
A group of people posing as contractors approached a North Jersey home and tried scamming the owners out of money, prompting local police to issue a warning.
