Officer Kills Dog After Attack In Linden: Police A dog was shot and killed after it attacked two police officers in Linden on Friday morning, June 2, authorities said. At 11 a.m., police responded to the 600 block of Dewitt St. to check on the welfare of multiple dogs, Captain Christopher Guenther of the Linden Police Department said. During their investigation, two officers were attacked by one of the dogs. Another officer shot the dog once, killing the dog, Guenther said. One Injured In Large Linden Fire (Developing) A large fire engulfed a home in Linden on Friday morning, May 26, authorities said. Everyone was able to evacuate from the home on the 1100 block of Forest Drive, Captain Christopher Guenther of the Linden Police Department said. One person suffered a minor injury and was treated at the scene, Guenther said. It is believed the fire began in the yard and spread into the home, Guenther said. Police ask that people avoid the area while firefighters remain on scene. This is a developing story. Check back for updates.

9-Year-Old Elizabeth Resident Dies Dave Alex Grande passed away on Monday, April 24 at the age of 9, according to his obituary. Grande was an Elizabeth resident and attended Joseph Battin School No. 4. The Elizabeth Board of Education held a moment of silence for him at its meeting on Thursday, May 11. "Alex was a kind kid and funny, and he love giving warm hugs to me. Now he is in a happy place to be," wrote someone on his tribute wall.  A funeral was held on Tuesday, May 2 at Las Rosas Bannworth Funeral Home in Elizabeth.
