Hoboken Rallies Around Woman Battling Rare Cancer Brittney Upman is in the fight for her life and the Hoboken community wants to help. Upman has been battling Leptomeningeal Disease, a rare complication in which late-stage cancer cells spread to your cerebrospinal fluid and the membranes surrounding the brain and spinal cord. She recently spent her 33rd birthday in the intensive care unit and has undergone brain surgery, chemotherapy and received immunotherapy and proton radiation.
