It happened in a blink. A young Park Ridge schoolgirl had just emerged from an SUV and was behind the vehicle as the driver put it into reverse. Fortunately, the child had a guardian angel -- Mike Stallone, a special law enforcement officer with the Park Ridge Police Department who'd just been assigned to West Ridge Elementary School. Bicyclist, 68, Killed In Park Ridge Crash
A 68-year-old bicyclist died after crashing at the bottom of a steep hill in Park Ridge, authorities said. The victim wasn't wearing a helmet as he headed down Spring Valley Road when he crashed near Doxey Drive shortly before 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Park Ridge Police Capt. Joseph Rampolla said. Sgt.. Michael Babcock and Officer Scott Malloy called for a medical chopper and provided medical assistance to the victim, who suffered severe head trauma, the captain said. : System Inadvertently Triggered At OLM In Park Ridge
School was back in session Thursday after an accidental activation of the lockdown system at Our Lady of Mercy Academy in Park Ridge brought a huge law enforcement response. "We're not sure why the lockdown system was activated," Park Ridge Police Capt. Joseph Rampolla said, "but we treated it as genuine, as always. Everything went smoothly."
