Jackknifed Tractor Trailer Snarls Traffic On Route 78
Multiple lanes were closed following a fuel spill and a jackknifed tractor trailer on Route 78 in Hunterdon County Friday, Jan. 19. It happened in the eastbound lanes, east of Exit 12 in Union Township by Perryville Rd., the New Jersey Department of Transportation said. Two left lanes of three lanes are closed, NJ DOT said. North Jersey residents are feeling the impact of this week's storm with thousands still without power and schools closed or delayed. The National Weather Service has released an automated analysis of snowfall after the Saturday, Jan. 6 storm. Yet another December rain storm has come and gone, leaving many New Jersey towns under water. According to the National Weather Service's Philadelphia/Mount Holly office, between one and three inches of rain fell across the area, ending early Thursday, Dec. 28. A pickup truck driver from New York has been charged with aggravated assault and weapons offenses following a road-rage shooting on Route 78 in Hunterdon County earlier this month, authorities said. Collen M. A New Jersey State Police trooper suffered a minor injury when a tractor trailer rammed four troop cars along Route 78 Wednesday, Oct. 11, authorities said. The Volvo tractor-trailer was heading east when it collided with an Isuzu box truck around 1:50 p.m. near milepost 15.4 in Union Township (Hunterdon County), NJSP Detective I Jeffrey Lebron said.
