A 43-year-old Elmwood Park man who was arrested for driving while intoxicated in Fairfield over the weekend was found to be in possession of a handgun without a permit, authorities said.
At 12:35 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 24, police responded to a two-car crash on Passaic Avenue in front of Franklin Steakhouse, officers said. One of the vehicles, a black Audi, was driven by Jose Roa, who had bloodshot and watery eyes, slurred speech and the inability to stand without supporting himself, police said.

A convicted sex offender who was wearing body armor when he crashed his car was found with several loaded weapons, high capacity magazines, hollow point bullets and more Sunday in Ocean County, authorities said.
A Mantaloking officer responded to the single-vehicle crash near the 1200 block where he found Jeremy W. Barringer, 46, of Toms River around 3 a.m., local police said.
The officer found a loaded AR-15 rifle, three high capacity magazines with hollow point bullets and a loaded 9mm handgun, along with more magazines containing hollow point bullet rounds, Mantaloking police said.

Out Of State Couple Busted With Handgun, Hollow-Point Bullets In Routine Morris County Stop
A couple from West Virginia had a handgun with a high-capacity magazine and hollow-point bullets when they were stopped in Morris County, authorities said.
Brian Moats, 29, and Alexis King, 38 — both of Morgantown, West Virginia — were stopped on West Mill Road in Washington Township around 1 a.m. on Sept. 30, Lt. Mark Niemynski said.
Moats, the passenger, initially gave police a fake name during questioning, prompting a search of the vehicle, which turned up a handgun with a high-capacity magazine, hollow-point bullets, a THC cartridge and drug paraphernalia, authorities said.
