Porch Pirates Busted In Central Jersey Package Theft Spree, Police Say
Two suspected porch pirates were caught in the act, following a series of package thefts in Highland Park, authorities said. The New Brunswick men were arrested on Wednesday, Nov. 20, the Highland Park Police Department said in a news release. Officers saw the unnamed duo stealing packages from homes on North Third Avenue and Highland Avenue. The first suspect, 40, was taken into custody on North Third Avenue. A 21-year-old woman was shot at a large party Friday night, June 7 in Highland Park, authorities said. Police were dispatched to the 200 block of South 7th Avenue at about 11:30 p.m. after getting a call about a disturbance. They found the woman shot three times, Highland Park police said. Fire Destroys Food Pantry In Central Jersey
Fire destroyed a food and clothing pantry in Middlesex County, authorities said. The fire broke out in a building leased by Fish Inc. on the 400 block of New Market Road at about 7:15 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 28, according to Piscataway Mayor Brian Wahler, who was at the scene. An elementary school in Middlesex County will be closed Friday, Feb. 9 due to a gastrointestinal outbreak, authorities said. The Irving School in Highland Park, which enrolls 310 students in pre-kindergarten through first grade, also canceled Thursday’s aftercare program due to the spreading stomach virus.
