7,000-Gallon Tanker Truck Strikes Railroad Bridge In Central Jersey (

A 7,000-gallon tanker truck struck a railroad bridge in Woodbridge on Wednesday afternoon, July 10, authorities said. Woodbridge police could not immediately confirm the tanker's contents but said there were no major leaks and no injuries. The crash occurred at about 2 p.m. at Green Street and Rahway Avenue. An unconfirmed report said the tanker was carrying jet fuel. Hazmat crews and NJ Transit were at the scene of the crash, police said. No train service was interrupted due to the crash, according to a NJ Transit spokesman. Check back for updates.

2 Hospitalized By Explosion At Industrial Gas Supply Company In NJ Town
Two people were injured after an explosion at an industrial gas company in Branchburg on the early morning of Wednesday, June 5, authorities said. At 4:30 a.m., first responders arrived at 197 Meister Ave. and found smoke visible from the Air Liquide building, Branchburg police said in a release. Acting on a reliable tip, investigators led by Detective Jeffrey Welsh obtained a search warrant and -- assisted by their department's Special Services Bureau -- hit the clandestine Haledon Avenue lab on Saturday, Feb. 10, Deputy Police Chief George Guzman said. HAZMAT: Tainted Substance Sickens Newark Bank Workers
A possible HazMat situation was reported at a Newark bank Tuesday, May 2 when a man handed the teller tainted cash, authorities said. The Wells Fargo Bank on Lyons Avenue was evacuated around 12:10 p.m., when the teller and other employees said they had been feeling sick. Three employees were taken to Newark Beth Israel Medical Center as firefighters and police investigated. It was not immediately clear what the cash had been tainted with. The bank was listed as being temporarily closed on Google Tuesday evening.

Chicken Waste Spill Causes HazMat Situation Along South Jersey Highway
A trailer hauling chicken waste products crashed, spilling its contents all over Route 55 and causing a HazMat situation in Gloucester County on Monday, Feb. 27. The northbound side of the roadway was closed in Deptford from mile marker 59.2 to the Route 42 interchange following the 9 a.m. crash. The roadway had reopened as of 1:45 p.m., but crews were still on scene for cleanup. HazMat crews, the New Jersey State Police, NJDOT, and multiple fire departments were on scene. Environmental services were notified and were monitoring the incident. No injuries were reported.

Radiation Readings Bring HazMat Response In Elizabeth
An Elizabeth firetruck on a medical call detected high radiation levels early Friday, Jan. 6, bringing the county's HazMat trucks to the scene. No evacuations were necessary as readings of manholes turned up low radiation levels for Engine 5 around 9 a.m., city spokeswoman Ruby Contreras said. More than 100 gallons of cooking oil were spilled from a truck in a massive HazMat incident in Sussex County, authorities said. The Newton Fire Department responded to the spill alongside local police and the county HazMat team on Wednesday, June 22, the department said. Six students were hospitalized for respiratory distress after they were exposed to pepper spray at their Jersey City middle school Monday, a city spokeswoman said.
