The serenity of a sleeping family was shattered when a sedan slammed into a Clifton home near the Garden State Parkway and the driver bailed, authorities said. The driver -- a 37-year-old New York man from Yonkers -- ran following the loud crash on Hazel Street off Madeline Avenue shortly after 2:30 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 3, Clifton Police Lt. Charges Filed In Auto Death Of Beloved Clifton Icon
Grieving loved ones prepared to bury a beloved Clifton icon as authorities announced that charges had been filed against the driver who struck and killed 81-year-old "marathon man" Marinus Lalumia. The driver, Ibrahim Jadallah, 21, remained held in the Passaic County Jail pending a first appearance Thursday in Central Judicial Processing Court in Paterson, authorities announced. Clifton Pedestrian, 81, Struck, Killed Near Home
An 81-year-old Clifton resident was struck and killed Sunday morning a few doors down from his home. Marinus Lalumia, of Van Orden Place, was pronounced at the scene after a 2017 Honda HR-V driven by a 21-year-old Paterson man struck him as he crossed Hazel Street across from the Daughters of Miriam Center shortly before 8:30 a.m. Sunday, authorities said. No charges were immediately filed, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Clifton Police Chief Thomas Rinaldi said in a brief release. Clifton PD: Separate Assaults On Women Lead To Pursuits, Struggles, Arrests
One of two men chased down by Clifton police in separate assaults on women was carrying a knife, 41 folds of heroin and a crack pipe, authorities said. The incidents occurred within an hour of one another. Officers responding to a report of a 7 p.m. assault Wednesday at Norwood Avenue and Hazel Street began searching for 28-year-old Matthew Johnson of Clifton, Detective Lt. Robert Bracken said.
