Man Pleads Guilty To Killing Woman In Hudson County Vestibule A West New York man admitted to killing a 32-year-old woman in 2019, authorities said. Edwin Orlando Velasco-Salazar pleaded guilty to pleaded guilty to one count of first-degree aggravated manslaughter related to the death of Irma Doris Contreras on Nov. 1, 2019, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said. Velasco-Salazar on Oct. 25 appeared before the Superior Court Judge Vincent J. Militello, and admitted to recklessly causing Contreras’ death while exhibiting an extreme indifference to human life, the prosecutor said.  The State will be recommending a sentence of …

Palisades Park healthcare workers Susana Pabatao, 64, and Alfredo Pabatao, 68, started feeling the onset of symptoms about three weeks ago, NJ.com reports. Alfredo Pabatao noticed he had a 102-degree fever on March 17 and two days later went to his doctor, who told him to go to the emergency room. Driver Critical After Garbage Truck Plummets Off Overpass A Union City DPW garbage truck plummeted off an overpass onto westbound Route 495 in Weehawken after the driver suffered a medical emergency Wednesday afternoon, responders told Daily Voice. The driver was taken to Jersey City Medical Center with critical injuries, they said.  A passenger in the truck sustained a broken femur, police at the scene told Daily Voice. The driver -- who apparently suffered a heart attack -- and another person who was on the street above were also hospitalized, as were several people who were aboard a bus that struck the truck after it landed, they said.
