Glen Rock Homeowner Burned
A Glen Rock homeowner burned his hand Monday during a small fire at his home. The Abington Terrace home just off Maple Avenue sustained minor damage in the noontime Nov. 20 second-floor blaze. The homeowner declined ambulance transport and said he'd drive himself to the hospital. Fire officials said original suspicions that a torch being used to burn paint off a baseboard caused the fire were incorrect. They didn't say how it started, however. Mutual aid responders included firefighters from Fair Lawn, Hawthorne and Ridgewood. Boyd A. Loving took the photos and reported this story.

Series Of Misfortune: NJ Family Displaced By Fire While Dad Battles Cancer
The Piscataway community is coming together to help a family that has been put through the ringer. Sreedhar Chinnapidi, a respiratory therapist, was recently diagnosed with cancer and is undergoing surgery and radiation. While battling cancer, the family's home on Forest Drive was damaged in a three-alarm fire on Monday, Nov. 13. The family has also recently lost their grandmother. Firefighters doused a blaze on the Atlantic City Boardwalk Wednesday, Nov. 15. The two-alarm fire broke out around 3:50 p.m., outside Resorts Casino Hotel. Wyckoff Woman, 79, Who Died In House Fire Identified
UPDATE: Virginia D'Amelio Ingenito of Wyckoff was home alone Sunday afternoon when what quickly became an intense fire apparently began in her kitchen. Wyckoff police who arrived first at the Meer Avenue home where she lived with her son and two grandsons found the 79-year-old Italian immigrant unresponsive just after noon Nov. 5, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella said. One Dead In Wyckoff House Fire
A grandmother who was pulled from a Wyckoff house fire on Sunday died at the hospital, authorities confirmed. Virginia D'Amelio Ingenito, 79, was found unresponsive by Wyckoff police officers who were the first responders at the fire on Meer Avenue just off James Way behind Route 208 just after noon Nov. 5, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella said. Man Dies In Union County Fire
A man was killed in a Union County fire Friday, Nov. 3. Flames broke out at a home on the 100 block of North Avenue in Garwood around 4:50 p.m. Friday, Nov. 3, local police said. Multiple 911 callers said the first floor of the structure was fully engulfed. Garwood firefighters and others from surrounding jurisdictions responded, and neighbors said a victim may be inside, Garwood police said. Firefighters found a male victim on the first floor apartment. He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police. The incident remains under investigation.

Firefighters Douse Intense Attic Blaze In Garfield
Firefighters in Garfield contained an intense attic blaze that severely damaged a single-family home. They got there quickly after smoke was reported coming out an attic window of the two-story, wood-frame home on Bergen Street shortly before 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 1. Landmark Liquor Store In Englewood Severely Damaged By Fire
Fire severely damaged a landmark business that has been part of Englewood's fabric for well over a century, officials said. The two-alarm blaze at I Wides Liquors on West Englewood Avenue broke out around 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 31. Firefighters kept the flames from spreading past the front of the building and had the blaze under control in barely an hour. Six Birds Evacuated In Two-Alarm Blaze: Linden Police
Nobody was injured after a two-alarm fire began in the basement of a home in Linden on Monday, Oct. 30, police said. Firefighters and police responded to the 500 block of Maple Avenue on reports of a structure fire and discovered the basement blaze in a multi-family home, police said. Two occupants and several pets, including six birds, were safely evacuated, police said. Multiple roadways in the area remain closed and residents are encouraged to avoid the area, police said.

A Paterson street that's had more than its share of late-night fires in multi-family houses had another last night. Flames began quickly spreading on the second floor of a vacant 2½-story building on Lafayette Street just off Rosa Parks Boulevard shortly after 10 p.m. Monday, Oct. 23, responders said. Smoky Fire Closes Route 46 Popeyes
Firefighters doused an overnight blaze Thursday at the Popeyes Louisiana Chicken restaurant on westbound Route 46 in Lodi. The smoky fire broke out in the kitchen shortly before 1 a.m. Oct. 19, roughly two hours after closing time. Firefighters had it under control within a half hour. No injuries were reported.
