Newly released bodycam footage shows a July 2024 arrest of a DUI driver with a history of traffic offenses who fled the scene of a crash in Monmouth County. Transparency Bodycam published footage of the crash on July 22, involving a white 2017 Mercedes GLE that had struck a pole on Mitchell Place near Oakes Road in Little Silver. A 66-year-old Union City man was arrested and charged with drunk driving after he struck a dumpster at North Bergen police headquarters on the evening of Tuesday, Sept. 10, authorities said. At 9:50 p.m., an officer observed a 2010 white Ford 150 pickup truck driven by Juan Mendez-Alvarado nearly collide with a street sign while making a right turn from Kennedy Boulevard onto Hillside Place, North Bergen police said. A Woodstown man reportedly admitted to having about a half-dozen beers before the crash that killed Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau, arrest records said. Sean Higgins, 43, was facing several charges including two counts of assault by auto, according to court records. He was accused of striking the NHL star and his brother while they were riding bicycles in Oldmans Township on Thursday, Aug. 29. Wrong Way Staten Island Driver, 35, Charged With DWI In Hoboken
A Staten Island driver was charged with DWI after police spotted him going the wrong way down a one-way Hoboken street over the weekend, authorities said. Joseph Martucci was stopped by officers who saw him going down 3rd Street from River to Hudson streets around 9:20 p.m. Sunday, Det. Lt. Danilo Cabrera said. Martucci subsequently failed a field sobriety test and was charged with DWI. He was taken to police headquarters for processing, where he refused to provide a breath sample, police said. He consequently was issued a summons and other motor vehicle offenses, Cabrera said.

Little Ferry Police Car Hit By Drunk Driver On Route 46 After Officers Stop Other DWI Motorist
Little Ferry police had just begun a field sobriety test for a drunk driver when their cruiser was struck from behind by another intoxicated motorist on Route 46, authorities said. Officer Joseph Montemurro found the first driver -- Christian Estrella, 34, of Jersey City -- slumped over the steering wheel of his Lexus at the Liberty Street intersection at 2:40 a.m. Saturday, Detective Lt.
