Ex-Cons Nabbed In Elizabeth Taxi Driver Shooting Sent To Federal Prison
One ex-con was sentenced to a plea-bargained 8½ years in federal prison and another a little more than seven -- both without parole -- for shooting a taxi driver during a late-night robbery in Elizabeth. City police nabbed Naeem Jackson, 24, of East Orange, and Walter Williams-Lang, 22, of Elizabeth, but the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Newark took the case because of the government’s ability to secure much harsher penalties than under state law. Body Found In Jersey Shore Recycling Plant
A body was found amid the dropoffs at a Jersey Shore recycling plant, authorities confirmed. The adult male corpse was discovered at the Mazza Recycling plant in Tinton Falls on Wednesday, Nov. 8, Chris Swendeman of the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office confirmed. It apparently was among the recyclables dumped by collection trucks from various counties. The plant was immediately closed and then reopened on Thursday. A 26-year-old New Jersey woman was found guilty of fatally stabbing her mother on Friday, Nov. 3, authorities said. Malika Jones, of Rahway, was convicted of aggravated manslaughter for the incident, which occurred in February 2020, Union County Prosecutor William A. Daniel and Rahway Police Director Nicholas Breiner said. A man who was shot in the chest died and another shot in the face was hospitalized before dawn Sunday in Paterson. The 32-year-old victim shot in the face was transported by ambulance to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center after gunfire erupted at the Food Fair on Market Street around 3 a.m. Oct. 22. Irvington Shooting Victim Found Lying In Street: Maplewood Police
A person who was shot in Irvington was found lying in the street in Maplewood on Monday, Oct. 9, Maplewood police said. At 2:11 p.m., police in Maplewood responded to Evelyn Court and found the victim, Maplewood Police Chief Albert Sally said. They were taken to a nearby hospital, Sally said. An investigation by Maplewood police determined the shooting occurred in Irvington and the Irvington Police Detective Bureau will be handling the investigation, Sally said. A body of a man was found in a dumpster in Newark on Thursday, Sept. 28, authorities said. At 5:19 p.m., Newark police found the body inside a dumpster on the 600 block of Clinton Avenue, Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N.
