Max Movie 'Sweethearts' Filmed In Cranford Out Thanksgiving Day Nearly a dozen New Jersey towns serve as the backdrop for the Max Original film "Sweethearts," set to debut this Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov. 28.  The romantic comedy starring Kiernan Shipka and Nico Hiraga was filmed in Cranford, Jersey City, and Mahwah. Drive-In Movie Theater Coming To Cranford Grab some friends and prepare your popcorn — The Cranford Theater's drive-in location has received township approval.  The theater will begin selling tickets once an official announcement is made on its website. Sign up for email alerts here. The theater will operate at the Orange Avenue Pool parking lot on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights, with Sundays reserved for rain days, according to a release from the Cranford Township Committee. Mayor Issues Statement After He's Told Cranford Theater Closing A few weeks after a similar venue in neighboring Westfield shut its doors for good, residents of Cranford now fear the same fate may befall its small local movie theater.  Mayor Patrick Giblin said in a Facebook post Wednesday night he'd been told that Cranford Theater would close  this week, but he was unable to confirm.
