Lyndhurst police boxed in a pair of Passaic teens and quickly took both into custody as they tried to pass through town in an SUV stolen out of Clifton, authorities said. Officer Michael D’Alesandro, who'd just finished his shift, spotted the Acura MDX on Ridge Road, Detective Lt. Vincent Auteri said. Copper, catalytic converters and used cooking oil continue to be items of choice for thieves looking to make a quick – and illegal – buck. Dwan Myles, 46, of Newark did his best not to be noticed, even convincing an employee of his that they were legitimately collecting a drum of oil from a restaurant in Lyndhurst, authorities allege. : Saddle Brook Man, 58, Charged With Secretly Tracking Ex From Lyndhurst, 33
A 58-year-old Saddle Brook resident who'd dated a Lyndhurst woman 25 years his junior hid a GPS tracking device on her SUV. Lyndhurst Police Detective Chris Cuneo obtained and reviewed surveillance video after the 33-year-old woman found the device on her Range Rover and called police earlier this month, Detective Lt. Vincent Auteri said on Wednesday, June 21. Cuneo identified Jesus Martinez as the culprit, the lieutenant said. Martinez was charged with stalking and released pending court action, he said.

A fugitive wanted for a pair of Jersey Shore burglaries was nabbed by a Lyndhurst police detective working another case, authorities said. Detective Chris Cuneo was on another investigation when he spotted a suspicious-looking Porsche Cayenne near a business on Orient Way and Rutherford Avenue this past Friday, Feb. 18, Detective Lt. A 22-year-old was carrying a loaded gun, heroin for sale and cocaine when a Lyndhurst police officer found him sitting alone in the back seat of a car in the business district, authorities said. Officer Michael Walker found Jaquan Beard after responding to a suspicious persons call on Stuyvesant Avenue near Valley Brook Avenue, Detective Lt. Vincent Auteri said Monday.
