Two men are at large after they used a skimming device on an ATM in Nutley to steal $1,000 from a customer's account on Saturday, March 9, authorities said. The skimming device was placed on an ATM at Proponent Bank on Washington Avenue on Thursday, Feb. 22, Nutley police said. The suspects removed the skimming device on Wednesday, Feb. 28, police said. Plainclothed Fort Lee detectives captured a group of “walk out” thieves who’d been following bank customers and distracting them long enough to steal their money and other valuables, authorities said. Authorities in Newark are seeking the public's help identifying a pair of robbery suspects. The men struck a victim on the 200 block of Elm Street multiple times, then robbed him of his wallet around 9:05 p.m. Friday evening, Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose said. Clifton Moving Company Owner Jacked Up Fees Once He Had Clients’ Stuff
The owner of a number of moving companies admitted in court Wednesday that he forced clients to pay him more than originally agreed rates by holding their belongings hostage, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said. Clifton resident Rami Zubidat, 31, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit wire fraud. He is scheduled to be sentenced in November. Lyft Driver Kidnapped At Gunpoint In Newark, Forced To Make Several Stops
Police in Newark are looking for a group of people who forced a ride share driver at gunpoint to take them to various locations in the area before robbing the driver, Public Safety Director Anthony Ambrose said. The Lyft driver picked up a fare on the 700 block of S. 18th Street around 3:30 p.m. April 7. Three passengers, who may have been juveniles, entered the vehicle and one pulled the gun.
