Burglar Who Stole $14K In Tools From Cars Busted In Bayonne: Police
A 51-year-old Bayonne man was arrested on Thursday, Nov. 30 and charged with committing five burglaries by breaking into vehicles via the side window in the city in October, authorities said.
Jayson Ruiz committed his first burglary on Saturday, Oct. 7, breaking a vehicle's side window and removing $5,000 worth of tools while the car was parked at West 56th Street and Avenue C, police said.
On Monday, Oct. 9, Ruiz broke a vehicle's side window and removed $1,500 worth of uninstalled audio equipment from a car parked at West 56th Street and JFK Boulevard, police said.

Mega Millions Tickets Totaling $3 Million Sold In North Jersey
A pair of lucky Mega Millions tickets altogether worth $3 million were sold in North Jersey.
The two second-tier prizewinning tickets were sold in Tuesday's, April 12 drawing.
One is worth $1 million and the other $2 million, the latter of which was purchased with the Megaplier option.
The tickets were sold at the following locations:
Hudson County ($2 million): A Sharp Deli, 636-638 Avenue C, Bayonne; and,
Passaic County ($1 million): Jackpocket, 355 Warwick Turnpike, Hewitt.

Bayonne PD: Fully-Loaded High Capacity Mag, Drugs Seized From Wyoming Driver In 7-Eleven Lot
Ecstasy, cocaine and a fully-loaded large-capacity magazine were seized from a Wyoming driver whose car was parked in a Bayonne 7-Eleven lot for several hours, authorities said.
Officers visiting the convenience store on Avenue C were advised of a suspicious car that had been parked there for several hours around 12:30 a.m., Dec. 18, Bayonne Police Capt. Eric Amato said.
The driver, identified as Jason M. Gacel, 35, of Laramie, Wisconsin, had an open beer container next to him, Amato said.

Update: Driver In Fatal Bayonne Hit-Run Arrested
A man accused of leaving the scene after hitting a pedestrian who was then run over by an NJ Transit bus and killed has been arrested, authorities said.
James Nichols, 50, of Bayonne, was behind the wheel of a dark-colored vehicle when he struck John Hagans, who was trying to cross Avenue C at 25th Street around 10:20 p.m. Thursday, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said.
Nichols then fled the scene, leaving Hagans, 50, of Jersey City, lying in the street, Suarez said. Moments later, Hagans was struck by an NJ Transit bus, and pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said.
