A $1 million Powerball ticket and a slew of third-tier winning tickets were sold across New Jersey, as the jackpot rolls to yet another record-high. Inmate In Coma After Being Brutally Stomped By Another In Atlantic County
A 42-year-old inmate at the Atlantic County Justice Facility remains in a coma after he was brutally stomped by a 26-year-old inmate last week, according to authorities and various news reports. Shakur L. Aabid has been charged with attempted murder in the Sept. 13 incident that landed Hassan Robinson in the hospital fighting for his life, according to the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office and Robinson's family. Rookie NJ Officer Killed In Off-Duty Accident
A police department in Atlantic County is mourning the loss of one of its own. Northfield police officer Jonathan Scull died in an off-duty accident Tuesday, Aug. 30 at 27 years old. Scull was apparently working on a vehicle at a private home in a nearby town when the accident occurred, NJ Advance Media reports. A wildfire consumed more than 2,100 acres of Wharton State Forest in South Jersey from Sunday, June 19 into Monday. A drug dealer who operated out of a hotel room just off the Atlantic City boardwalk must spend the next 30 years in federal prison. Sean Figaro, 35, rejected a deal from prosecutors, went to trial and was convicted by federal jurors Camden in July 2019 of selling heroin, gun possession by a convicted felon and witness tampering, among other charges. Shock, Sadness Spread After Woman Slain In Atlantic County
A 30-year-old woman was fatally shot overnight in Atlantic County, authorities said. Jazmen Martin-Richardson, 30, was found suffering from a gunshot wound on the 1000 block of Iowa Avenue, Pleasantville on Monday, May 23, according to Acting Atlantic County Prosecutor Cary Shill. Dealer Seized In Largest Drug Bust In Atlantic County History Takes Plea
A dealer who had more than 45 combined pounds of heroin, fentanyl and cocaine seized from his home in the largest drug bust in Atlantic County history will head to federal prison later this year, authorities said. Ricardo Clavijo, 40, and his brother, Christopher Gonzalez of Pleasantville, were arrested last summer when nearly 24 pounds of cocaine, 12 pounds of fentanyl and 9½ pounds of heroin were found in Calvijo's basement during a DEA-led raid of his Egg Harbor Township home.
