Atlantic City License Plate Readers Help Catch Driver Of Stolen Union Vehicle, Police Say Atlantic City police were crediting automated license plate readers for helping arrest two men with a gun and a stolen vehicle, authorities said. Daniel Ringgold, 37, of Pennsauken, was arrested on Thursday, Sept. 19, the Atlantic City Police Department said in a news release on Friday, Sept. 27. Investigators said Ringgold was driving a vehicle on Atlantic Avenue at around 5:15 p.m. when his license plate was read, triggering an alert. Ringgold had several active arrest warrants. Man Critical After Setting Himself On Fire In Atlantic City, Police Say A man who set himself on fire overnight in Atlantic City was in critical condition as of Saturday afternoon, authorities said. The 24-year-old Somers Point man was found with severe burns by police on the 2000 block of Atlantic Avenue around midnight, police said. An attendant from the gas station used a fire extinguisher to put the flames out. The man was transported to the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Division with serious, life-threatening injuries. Atlantic City Councilman MD Hossain Morshed Hospitalized In Assault, Police Say Police are investigating the assault of an Atlantic City councilman. Fourth Ward Councilman MD Hossain Morshed, 47, was taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center with non life-threatening injuries following the attack at the intersection of Florida and Atlantic avenues around 10:45 p.m. July 15, local police said.
