Man Pinned Beneath Huge Rock In Northeast Bergen Brook Rescued By Firefighters
Firefighters rescued a man trapped under a large rock in a stream in Demarest. The 49-year-old victim was walking along the Cresskill Brook behind Academy Lane just south of the Alpine Country Club when a 200-pound rock gave way Saturday afternoon, Sept. 23, Demarest Police Chief Anthony Dimitriadis said. The boulder pinned the man, whose head and chest were above the water, the chief said. Alpine Country Club Fire Doused
Three people required medical attention from an overnight Memorial Day weekend fire at the Alpine Country Club, responders said. The two-alarm blaze broke out in a mechanical room on the second floor of the Demarest catering hall and was quickly doused around 2:30 a.m. Saturday, May 27, they said. Mutual aid responders included firefighters from Closter, Dumont and Haworth who joined Demarest police, firefighters and EMS at the scene. A former Alpine Country Club says she was forced to resign after the Human Resources department failed to protect her from one of the managers harassing her, she says in a newly-filed lawsuit. The lawsuit filed in Bergen County Superior Court claims that Makayla Spruill, 20, of Paramus, was groped multiple times by the country club's food and drink manager, Hannibal Campa.
