A 56-year-old cyclist was flown to a nearby hospital after falling down a steep hill in Hunterdon County and losing consciousness, authorities said. The Pittstown woman was cycling on the Delaware-Raritan Canal Tow Path when she lost control of her bicycle and ran down a steep slope into a wooded area around 3:35 p.m. Sunday Oct. 23, a press release from Lambertville Police said. A 57-year-old man was taken to Morristown Medical Center after being struck in the head by a dumpster in the morning on Friday, Oct. 7, authorities said. The man was operating a garbage truck when he was hit by the dumpster as it was being moved by a winch near the B Buildings on Farmhouse Lane in Morristown, Police Capt. A Jersey Shore fire department is mourning the loss of their chief. Keyport Fire Department Chief Tim Pfleger, 32, died over the weekend, the department announced on Facebook. Pfleger had been hurt in an accident returning from the fire academy in July, NJ Advance Media reports. Pfleger joined the department as a cadet in 2007. A July 4th fire consumed a shed and damaged two homes in Cresskill. The fire ignited just 15 feet from the Beechwood Road home just off Knickerbocker Road shortly before 3:30 p.m. Monday, responders said. Flames Swallow Wildwood's Windward Motel
Flames swept through a Wildwood motel causing nearly $500,000 in damages Tuesday, June 14. Squads arrived to the Ocean Avenue motel around 11:30 a.m. as the fire consumed the second floor. Firefighters cut a trench cut in the roof of the motel to help contain the blaze, which was under control in about 90 minutes. The cause was deemed accidental and no injuries were reported.
