Police: Homeowner Watched Union Burglary On Video In Real Time, Suspect Caught

A Union homeowner was at work in New York when the homeowner watched someone burglarize the residence via their video security system, police said. 

A homeowner from Union alerted police to a burglary while the homeowner was at work in New York, the department said in a statement.

A rookie police officer, Thyago Morais, was dispatched to the home on Roseland place Wednesday afternoon and caught the suspect, James Reed, coming out of the rear garage. Morais, who joined the force in January, arrested Reed without incident. 

Reed, 42, of Orange, has been charged with burglary, criminal mischief and possession of burglary tools.
