One person was killed in a head-on crash early Tuesday, Oct. 15 in Somerset County, police said. UPDATE: Cops ID Victim Of Deadly Somerset County Crash the crash happened just before 7:25 a.m. on Amwell Road near South Middlebush Road in Franklin Township, police said. Police, fire, and EMS responded to the scene. The driver and sole occupant of one of the vehicles was pronounced dead. 19-Year-Old Fatally Shot In Jersey City: Prosecutor
A 19-year-old was fatally shot in Jersey City on Friday, Oct. 11, authorities said. Around 5 p.m., Jersey City police responded to Garfield Avenue and Brown Place and found Kashyne Grant with a gunshot wound to the upper body, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said. Grant was transported to Jersey City Medical Center for treatment, where he was pronounced dead on Monday, October 14, Suarez said. A New Brunswick man was beaten to death in the city over the weekend, authorities said. Oscar Sanchez, 34, died on Sunday, Oct. 13, Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone said in a news release on Tuesday, Oct. 15. New Brunswick police responded to a 911 call on Comstock Street at around 3:03 a.m. Officers found Sanchez unconscious and performed CPR on him. A 31-year-old actor and Hawthorne resident was arrested and charged on Thursday, Oct. 10, with sending sexual messages to a 14-year-old girl, Daily Voice has learned. Matthew Kresch sent the text messages to the girl as part of an attempt to lure her into having sex, Hawthorne police said. A New Jersey boy was killed when a tree fell on him in a backyard, authorities said. Lucas Schwartz, 12, was identified as the victim of the Eldridge Avenue incident in Lawrence Township on a GoFundMe page. Police said he'd been playing with a friend in the backyard of a home when gusty winds blew the tree over, and it fell onto him around 12:09 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 14. Man Fatally Stabbed in East Orange: Prosecutor
A 51-year-old man was fatally stabbed in East Orange on the morning of Sunday, Oct. 13, authorities said. At 11:29 a.m., East Orange police responded to an apartment on the 500 block of Main Street and found William Gilliam with apparent stab wounds, Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II and East Orange Police Chief Phyllis Bindi said. Gilliam was pronounced dead soon after, authorities said. Police have made an arrest in a hit-and-run crash that killed a popular Newark man. Ahmed Bouda, 29 has been charged after authorities said he struck and killed Corey Claybrook around 1:30 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 14 on the 600 block of Springfield Avenue then fled the scene, Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. A 25-year-old Bayonne man is in critical condition after he was struck by a vehicle that fled the scene on the early morning of Sunday, Oct. 13, authorities said.
