An auxiliary traffic lane will be created from Gary Road to the Vauxhall exit ramp, a change intended to improve the acceleration and deceleration lane for the exit to and entrance from Sayre Road.
Also, a sidewalk will be built along Route 22 between Vauxhall Road and Sayre Road and the pedestrian stairway that connects Route 22 westbound and Vauxhall road will be realigned.
The project started this weekend, when lanes were realigned and towards the median and narrowed to create a wider shoulder so utilities can relocate equipment. The new configuration is expected to be in place until the fall, when the project enters its next phase.
The project is expected to be finished in summer 2020.
