Passenger Killed, Driver Seriously Injured In Route 80 Crash
A 38-year-old passenger was killed and the driver seriously injured in an overnight crash on Route 80, authorities confirmed.
Richard Bahamonte of Hillside was pronounced dead at the scene of the eastbound crash near the Teaneck/Ridgefield Park border west of Exit 68 just after 3 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 24, NJ State Police said.
The driver, Julio Brito, 40, of Hasbrouck Heights, lost control of the Honda, which careened off the road, slammed into a concrete barrier and ended up on its roof, they said.
State Police and medics from Holy Name Medical Center tried to resuscitate both occupants.

Stolen Car Left In Flames On Route 80, Trio Captured By Njsp, Teaneck PD
A young trio was captured by New Jersey State Police troopers and Teaneck police after they left a stolen car engulfed in flames on Route 80, authorities said.
An intense search began after troopers found the fully engulfed Chevy Cruze, reported stolen out of Jersey City, on the westbound highway near milepost 69 at 7:40 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 22, NJSP Sgt. First Class Philip Curry said.
Teaneck firefighters doused the blaze.

UPDATE: Three Newark men have been charged by New Jersey State Police with shooting and killing a fellow Brick City resident and leaving his body alongside Route 80.
Two of them – William Dixon, 24, and Nishir Rios-Figueroa, 30 – were already in custody in connection with other crimes, State Police said on Tuesday. They captured the third, Mustafa Manns, 28, in Newark.

An Uber passenger was robbed at knifepoint outside a Saddle Brook hotel by a man who’d conspired with the female driver and another accomplice to hold him up, authorities said.
Uber driver Karina Eremyan, 30, of Fair Lawn was behind the wheel when ex-con Antonio Bowen, 28, of Fair Lawn put a knife to the passenger’s neck in the parking lot of the Crowne Plaza Saddle Brook hotel off Route 80 around 3:30 a.m. March 23, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella said.

An ex-con and his companion Maced fellow passengers during a brawl that broke out on a bus headed west on Route 80, New Jersey State Police said.
Anthony Ginwright, 57, and Gloria Bates, 45, both of Atlantic City, also tried to use a Taser during the incident, they said.
