The sudden death of a devoted South Jersey father of two, longtime groundskeeper, and business owner has prompted a wave of support from the local community.
Michael Joseph Erb, of Villas, died “suddenly yet peacefully” on Tuesday, May 9, his obituary says.
Born in Philadelphia, Michael spent the last 25 years working as a groundskeeper and custodian for Lower Cape May Regional High School. He was known for his love of art, which motivated him to launch a family paint party business called Artist on the Rocks in North Cape May.

A pair of North Cape May residents have been charged with multiple drug-dealing violations, authorities said.
Kenneth Lopez-Atiles, 29, and Christine Pagan, 35, of the 3000 Block of Bayshore Road in the North Cape May section of Lower Township were arrested for the distribution of heroin, according to the Cape May County prosecutor.
On Thursday, Jan. 12, the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office Gangs, Guns, and Narcotics Task Force concluded a cooperative narcotics investigation into the distribution of heroin.
