UPDATE: A knife-wielding Ridgewood man who'd just fled a domestic violence assault was bent on suicide-by-cop when officers seized him during a tense Easter Sunday night standoff in a Paramus parking lot, authorities said. Keith Hanlon, 41, had been arrested on a domestic violence charge this past Christmas and was almost immediately released by a judge in Hackensack under New Jersey's bail reform law, records show. A recent graduate of a special needs high school in Paramus phoned in a pair of bogus reports -- one about an alleged threat at the school by a man with a knife and another that made it seem an active shooter was at the Garden State Plaza, authorities said. A man who fled a Home Depot in Paramus after assaulting a female security guard was stopped by a local police chief on Route 17 moments later, authorities said. Sheffield C. Brown, 53, of Brooklyn had stolen $1,300 worth of tools and other assorted items when the guard tried to stop him from leaving early Wednesday afternoon, Paramus Police Chief Kenneth Ehrenberg said.
