Thousands Without Power In NJ Following Tropical Storm Ophelia Thousands of New Jersey residents were without power Sunday, Sept. 24, after Tropical Storm Ophelia. Nearly 13,000 residents were without power Saturday, Sept. 23, but as of Sunday morning, that number was down to approximately 4,000. The bulk of the outages were in Monmouth County, where 4,636 were in the dark as of 10:45 a.m., according to the JCPL outage map. In Ocean County, 352 JCPL customers were without power. According to AccuWeather, wind gusts of 68 mph were tracked in Sea Isle on Saturday. The National Weather Service says towns along the Jersey Shore saw as much as 3.92 inches…

One in the tornades was confirmed in the Browns Mills section of Pemberton Township in Burlington County. Tornado Watch In Effect For South Jersey A tornado watch is in effect for 10 counties in New Jersey until 11 p.m. Monday Aug. 7, according to the National Weather Service. The tornado watch includes Mercer, Atlantic, Burlington, Camden, Cape May, Cumberland, Gloucester and Salem counties, the NWS said. Also, the tornado warning was extended to Hunterdon and Warren counties. There also is a watch for severe thunderstorms from Cumberland County north to Trenton. A slighter chance of thunderstorms exists along the Jersey Shore.
