Van Strikes Central Jersey School Bus, Driver Wanted In Hit-And-Run: Police Marlboro Township police are looking for whoever struck a school bus in a hit-and-run crash, authorities said. A white Ford commercial van hit the mirror of a school bus at around 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, Mar. 21, a Marlboro police spokesperson said. The van left the scene of the crash at the intersection of Route 79 and Newman Springs Road (county route 520). The bus driver and the eight students from a Marlboro elementary school were not injured. A school nurse went to the crash scene and checked all of the students as a precaution. Woman Left Elderly Disabled Person In Sun Causing Heatstroke: AG A 28-year-old woman from Union County has been indicted for allegedly neglecting an elderly disabled person in her care, authorities said. Valerie Pinchinat, of Linden, was indicted for third-degree neglect of an elderly or disabled person., they said.  The indictment was returned by a grand jury on Wednesday, May 11, according to Acting Attorney General Matthew J. Platkin. The victim purportedly suffered heatstroke and second-degree burns as a result of the defendant’s alleged neglect, Plotkin said. Heroes: K-9, Jersey Shore Police Rescue 'Suicidal' Runaway A police K-9 dog and his handler rescued someone who was suicidal and had run away, authorities said. The person had fled his residence in distress last week, Marlboro Township police said.  After about 90 minutes of searching area woods, K-9 handler, Patrolman Joshua Abrahamson and his partner, Bolo, were able to guide patrol officers to a spot where the subject was found unharmed, police said. "We would like to commend Bolo and all the officers involved that helped lead this incident to a successful outcome," the police department said on Instagram and Facebook.

Woman Killed In Route 9 Crash On Jersey Shore: Prosecutor A woman was killed in a crash along Route 9 in Marlboro Township, authorities said. On Sun. Feb. 13 at 2:22 a.m., a 2019 Cadillac XT5 traveling southbound on Route 9, collided with a 2018 Nissan Altima at the intersection on the southbound side of Route 9 and Route 520, according to Acting Monmouth County Prosecutor Lori Linskey. The Altima then proceeded to strike a nearby telephone pole, Linskey said. Fatal Crash Reported On Jersey Shore: Police A motorist was killed in a crash on the Jersey Shore, authorities said. The crash occurred about 6:30 a.m. on Route 18 southbound in Marlboro Township, police said. Route 18 South in the area of Tennent Road and Route 520 was shut down until about 10 a.m., according to Capt. Stephen Levy, a police department spokesman. The vehicle, a 2008 grey Honda Accord,  left the roadway and struck a large tree, Levy said.
