One of two defendants publicly identified for the first time in the shooting of a New Jersey State Police detective in Paterson earlier this year once deliberately gunned down a 16-year-old boy, records show. Tajshmer Johnson and Queenasia McFarlane, both 30, were named in a state grand jury indictment returned Tuesday, July 25, that charges Jocquise Timmons, 28, with the NJSP shooting in early March. An alleged Paterson police brutality victim fled a traffic stop and then scuffled with Passaic County sheriff's officers who tracked him down at a nearby deli, authorities said. Osamah Alsaidi, 21, was stopped for an unspecified violation on Madison Avenue shortly after 2 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 27, Passaic County Sheriff Richard Berdnik said. Sixteen Paterson drug dealers who authorities said defended their turf against rivals by heavily arming themselves with guns and large-capacity magazines have been indicted by a state grand jury. A Paterson woman assaulted a nurse working at a COVID-19 testing site, said city police who arrested her. The nurse had approached Ayxa Roldan, 19, and asked whether she was ill after spotting her covered in a blanket on line at the testing site off the corner of Madison Avenue and Ellison Street, authorities said. Three Wounded In Overnight Paterson Shooting
Three people were wounded in an overnight shooting Friday in Paterson, authorities said. Police found a 19-year-old city man at the scene of the 1 a.m. shooting at the corner of Market Street and Madison Avenue, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Paterson Police Chief Ibrahim Baycora said in a joint release. He was taken to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center in Paterson. A driver led Paterson police on a chase that ended when his vehicle slammed into a city police cruiser, igniting a fire, and then crashed onto its side into a porch, authorities said. Shooting Spree Continues In Paterson, Victim Critical
A victim was critically wounded Sunday night in another in a series of recent shootings in Paterson. The 21-year-old city resident was struck several times on 18th Avenue near the busy intersection of Madison Avenue and Market Street shortly after 9:30 p.m., authorities said. He was taken to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center, where Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Paterson Police Chief Ibrahim Baycora said he was most recently reported in critical but stable condition. They didn’t say whether anyone was in custody or if they had any suspects.
