Two people were hospitalized after their SUV crashed and rolled over in Longport, authorities said. Officers responded to the crash near the intersection of North 31st and Winchester avenues at around 4:51 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 3, the Longport Police Department said in a news release. Police found an SUV overturned in the intersection of Winchester and North Evergreen avenues. An elderly driver hit a pedestrian at an intersection in Longport, authorities said. The crash happened at the intersection of Atlantic and 27th avenues at around 1:45 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 14, the Longport Police Department said in a news release. Investigators said the 91-year-old Margate woman was driving a 2016 Chevrolet Cruz on South 27th Avenue. She was turning east onto Atlantic Avenue when she struck a 53-year-old Linwood woman. You might want to check your credit card statement if you recently took a popular bridge to get to Margate. In a Facebook post, the Downbeach Express said it double-charged some customers on Thursday, June 27. The privately owned toll bridge between Northfield and Margate charges drivers $2.50 each way or $1.85 for Express Pass users. Body Of Missing Atlantic City Woman, 51, Found Offshore
The body of an Atlantic City woman who went missing two weeks ago was found in Great Egg Harbor Inlet, authorities said. Nyuyet Mai, 51, was reported missing on June 24. Her body was recovered in the water off Longport on the Fourth of July, police said on Wednesday. The New Jersey State Police Major Crimes Unit is investigating her death. Mai, a mother of two, was seen on surveillance video walking along the Boardwalk near Florida Avenue before going onto the beach, initial reports said.
