A 44-year-old man from South Jersey was sentenced to 12 years in New Jersey State Prison in connection with the fatal overdose of an 18-year-old. Freddie W. Smith, 44, of Vineland had been charged with strict liability for a drug-induced death, according to the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office. A 42-year-old man from Atlantic County has been detained in connection with the fatal drug overdose of a teenage father, authorities said. Freddie W.. Smith of Vineland was charged with first-degree strict liability for a drug induced death, Atlantic County Prosecutor Damon G. Tyner said. On Friday, a judge granted the state's motion to detain Smith, Tyner said.
