A Philadelphia man accused of a multi-state smash-and-grab spree spanning Virginia, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey has been arrested after allegedly burglarizing multiple outlet stores, stealing tens of thousands of dollars in merchandise, and driving a stolen car, authorities announced on Tuesday, Feb. 11.
Timothy Eugene Root, 58, was charged with felony burglary, felony theft, felony retail theft, misdemeanor criminal mischief, misdemeanor possession of an instrument of crime, and receiving stolen property, police said.

An Atlantic City man admitted to selling heroin mixed with fentanyl and cocaine, authorities said.
Nahjajuan Ellis, 23, of Atlantic City, pleaded guilty on Monday, May 6 to first-degree maintaining a controlled dangerous substance production facility, second-degree possession of heroin and fentanyl with the intent to distribute, and second-degree unlawful possession of a handgun. The Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office announced the plea in a news release.

Woman Killed In Newark Shooting Was Protecting Friend From Domestic Violence, Reports Say
A 21-year-old Newark woman was shot and killed while protecting her friend in an incident of domestic violence, news reports say.
Wesley Jean-Marie, of Valley Stream, New York, has been charged in the shooting death of Leeana Cottle, 21, of Newark, late Tuesday, according to Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II, and Newark Public Safety Director Brian A. O’Hara.
Cottle allegedly was shot at about 11:30 p.m. on the 200 block of South 10th Street while attempting to shield her friend from 32-year-old Jean-Marie, RLS Media reports.
