Halloween Night looks a lot like Matt Kaprielian's childhood dream. The Park Ridge resident has smoke blowing across the lawn and animatronic skeletons rattling a cemetery gate. He has a casket from an actual funeral home and a mannequin painted to look like a corpse inside. Kaprielian's got tombstones and rats, jack-o-lanterns and ghouls. Pilot Escapes Hardwick Crash Landing Without Injury
A pilot walked away from a crash landing in Hardwick Tuesday uninjured. The crash occurred on Jones Lane near Stillwater Road around 2:30 p.m., New Jersey State Police said. The pilot tried making an emergency landing in a field when the plane malfunctioned, police said. The plane had taken off from Blairstown Airport and sustained heavy damage to the wins, State Police said. Firefighters quickly doused a smoky chimney blaze in Cresskill Wednesday night. Fortunately, it didn't cause the kind of damage that's possible when homeowners aren't vigilant. The Chestnut Street resident safely fled the two-alarm 11:30 p.m. blaze, Fire Chief Christopher S. Ulshoefer said. No injuries were reported. The fire, which damaged the first and second floors, was declared under control in about 20 minutes, the chief said. The body of a Closter man who went missing in Lake Tahoe five weeks ago was found more than 1,500 feet below the surface, authorities said. Help Sought For Family Of Bergen Man Believed Drowned In Lake Tahoe
Funds are being raised to help pay for an anguished Dumont family’s trip to Lake Tahoe, where a 29-year-old member was believed drowned. Ryan Normoyle of Closter had been vacationing when his rented boat was found drifting near shore on Aug. 10. What began as a search and rescue soon turned into a recovery mission that, as of Wednesday, was still continuing. The Coast Guard had gotten a call of the boat drifting near Glenbrook, Nevada, off the East Shore around 6 p.m. Monday, authorities said. A Newark man stabbed his ex-girlfriend when she wouldn't take him back, then fled to Maryland, where he was captured the same day, authorities said.
