14-Year-Old Girl Missing From Deptford: Police
A 14-year-old girl has been missing from Deptford since the afternoon of Friday, Jan. 10, authorities said. Amiya Albert was last seen 5 p.m. entering a vehicle, Depford Township police said. She lives in the Jericho/Hammond Heights section of the township, police said. She may be headed to Camden City, police said. A gunman was killed and a local police officer in Mercer County wounded multiple times in a shootout following a domestic violence incident Friday night, New Jersey's top law enforcement official confirmed. A 911 domestic violence call brought Hamilton Township police to an Orchard Avenue home around 10 p.m. March 8, New Jersey Attorney General Matthew Platkin said on Saturday. Police Capture Loose Pig In South Jersey
Deptford Township police had one of their more unusual calls on Tuesday, Dec. 5. A loose pig was reported near Tanyard Road and Brenner Drive. "Through the use of de-escalation techniques and the latest technology, officers were finally able to apprehend the suspect," Deptford police joked on their Facebook page, where a video of the "arrest" was posted. Police nicknamed the 4-year-old pig Albert Einstein. He was from the New Sharon section of the township, they said. "Mr. Einswine was released on his own recognizance," the post said.

Shooter In Murder-Suicide Was Retired Atlantic City Police Officer
The man who shot and killed his ex-girlfriend before killing himself was a retired Atlantic City police officer, authorities confirmed. William Beattie, 47, retired from the police force on Feb. 1, 2010, according to public records. Police were called to Ogden Road in Deptford at 6:50 p.m. Monday, Nov. 28. They found the bodies of the resident, Erin Gatier, 47, and Beattie, of Landisville, inside, according to the Gloucester County Prosecutor's Office. An Atlantic County man killed himself after fatally shooting his Gloucester County girlfriend, authorities said. Police were called to Ogden Road in Deptford at 6:50 p.m. Monday, Nov. 28. A pedestrian killed in a hit-and-run crash in South Jersey was convicted of sexual assault of a child, NJ Advance Media reported. The crash victim, Paul F. Margand, 65, of Deptford Township, served as a Catholic priest in Nebraska in the 1980s before his conviction, the outlet said, citing a report by the Nebraska attorney general. Margand died on Thursday, Sept. 1 after being struck by a car while walking along Cattel Road at about 9:30 p.m., according to Deptford Township police. Woman Arrested In South Jersey Bank Heist: Police
A 33-year-old South Jersey woman was arrested in a bank heist over the weekend, authorities said. Kiara Pierce, of Sicklerville, passed a note to the teller at the Republic Bank on Deptford Center Road, then fled in a car after receiving a certain amount of money around 1:50 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 21, Deptford Township police said. The suspect vehicle was spotted by a patrol officer, who pulled the vehicle over and arrested Pierce, police said. She was charged with robbery, theft and terroristic threats.

A police officer accused of attempting to strangle a woman during an off-duty domestic violence incident pleaded not guilty, NJ Advance Media reported. Myron V. Ford, 37, an officer with Deptford Township police his plea on Monday, April 4 during a court appearance, the outlet said. Ford was arrested at his apartment on Sept. 30, 2021, after the incident. An off-duty Deptford Township police officer is accused of trying to strangle a woman during a domestic violence dispute, according to published reports. Myron V. Ford, 36, was arrested and charged on Thursday at his apartment by Deptford police, NJ Advance Media says citing court records and a criminal complaint.
