Cheetah Dies At Jersey Shore Zoo, Remembered For 'Sass' And Boldness
A cheetah has died after living at the Cape May County Park and Zoo for more than a decade, officials said.
Buju, a 12-year-old cheetah, died from kidney disease, the zoo said in a Facebook post on Monday, July 29. He and his brother Beenie arrived at the Cape May Court House park in November 2013.
The zoo said staff members will miss Buju's "sass."

A post office worker in South Jersey admitted going on a $54,000 personal spending spree, buying power tools, gift cards, groceries and more with U.S. Postal Service plastic.
Austin T. Mahan, 44, of Cape May Court House, was working at the Sea Isle and Somers Point facilities when he used postal service credit cards at retail stores in and around New Jersey over a six-month period beginning in 2022, U.S. Attorney Philip R. Sellinger said.

Trio Arrested For Abuse Of 5 Children In Cape May County: Prosecutor
Three adults have been charged with the abuse of five children in Cape May County, authorities said.
Irene Becica, 71; Thomas Becica, 57; and Christina VonColln, 45; all of Cape May Court House have been charged with child endangerment concerning the abuse in Middle Township, they said.
On Dec. 8, with the assistance of Cape May Regional SWAT, a court-authorized search warrant was executed at the residence of Irene Becica, Thomas Becica, and Christina VonColln located on Goshen Road in the Middle Township.

South Jersey Men Arrested For Dealing Coke, Heroin, Fentanyl: Prosecutor
A pair of men from South Jersey have been arrested in connection with dealing a variety of drugs including cocaine, heroin and fentanyl, authorities said.
Michael Morales, 31, of Cape May Court House, and Nelson Otero, 31, of Heislerville, were charged with the distribution of controlled dangerous substances and money laundering among other charges.
On Tuesday, Aug. 29, authorities executed court-authorized search warrants on the residences and vehicles of Morales and Otero, according to Cape May County Prosecutor Jeffrey H. Sutherland.

Lifelong Jersey Shore resident and beloved aunt Tina Marie Salvesen died unexpectedly on Wednesday, Feb. 23. She was 38.
Born at the Cape May Court House, Salvesen graduated from the Cape May County Special Services School District, her obituary says.
She had worked at EasterSeals New Jersey since March 2021, according to her social media page.
Salvesen loved knitting, crocheting, and doing other arts and crafts, her memorial says.
