Harrowing details are beginning to surface in the death of a South Jersey woman. After being charged with second-degree disturbing human remains, 53-year-old Carlos Acevedo, of Camden, has been charged with first-degree murder in the death of Cathleen McGrath, Camden County Prosecutor Grace C. MacAulay and Camden County Police Chief Gabriel Rodriguez said. A 42-year-old man from Camden has been arrested for the fatal shooting of another man in September, authorities said. Jaffar Muhammad was charged with first-degree murder and weapons offenses in the fatal shooting of Alberto DeJesus, 31, of Camden, according to Camden County Prosecutor Grace C. Boy Struck By Car, Airlifted After Getting Off School Bus In South Jersey
A 15-year-old boy from Mays Landing had to be airlifted with serious injuries after being struck by a car, authorities said. The student had just gotten off a school bus when the crash occurred on Monday, Dec. 4 at about 5:40 p.m., according to Hamilton Township police in Atlantic County. The crash occurred at the intersection of Mays Landing Somers Point Road and Old River Road. One ex-con was sentenced to a plea-bargained 8½ years in federal prison and another a little more than seven -- both without parole -- for shooting a taxi driver during a late-night robbery in Elizabeth. City police nabbed Naeem Jackson, 24, of East Orange, and Walter Williams-Lang, 22, of Elizabeth, but the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Newark took the case because of the government’s ability to secure much harsher penalties than under state law. A 52-year-old man from Gloucester County was killed in a shooting in Camden, authorities said. Jeremy Barron, of Westville, died as a result of a gunshot wound on Sunday afternoon, Nov. 26, according to Camden County Prosecutor Grace C. Phone Scammer From Atlantic City Who Preyed On Recently Widowed Seniors Pleads Out: US Attorney
A heartless public housing tenant from Atlantic City admitted that she scammed elderly victims out of more than $100,000 by claiming that they owed money on life insurance policies bought by a spouse who’d just recently died.
