A New Jersey boy was killed when a tree fell on him in a backyard, authorities said. Lucas Schwartz, 12, was identified as the victim of the Eldridge Avenue incident in Lawrence Township on a GoFundMe page. Police said he'd been playing with a friend in the backyard of a home when gusty winds blew the tree over, and it fell onto him around 12:09 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 14. Driver, 23, Charged In Crash That Killed Navy Vet In South Jersey, Police Say
A 23-year-old man has been charged in a crash that killed a U.S. Navy veteran last month in Salem County, authorities said. Christopher Poore, of Bridgeton, was heading east on Route 40 when he struck Allen Miller Jr., 45, near milepost 20.5 in Pittsgrove around 3 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 18, New Jersey State Police said. An Atlantic City man was killed when his electric bicycle and a vehicle crashed, authorities said. Officers responded to the crash on the 100 block of North Maryland Avenue at around 12:59 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 2, the Atlantic City Police Department said in a news release. The mother was trick-or-treating with her children on Halloween when she was struck near West Park Avenue and Lafayette Avenue just before 7:15 p.m., Hamilton Police said in a Wednesday, Nov. 2 release.
