Richard Ortiz of Orlando, FL. has been charged with robbery, burglary, theft, aggravated assault, conspiracy and several weapons offenses, according to a spokesman for the Atlantic City Police Department.
A home invasion robbery in October resulted in a 22-year-old woman being wounded by gunfire, police said.
An investigation by detectives of the Violent Crimes Unit identified Ortiz as one of the two involved suspects resulting in the filing of criminal charges.
Ortiz was arrested on Nov. 11 in Orlando on unrelated charges, police said.
At 2:05 p.m. on Oct. 7, patrol officers responded to a residence on Chelsea Court in reference to a woman that was shot.
She was transported to the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Division, with a non-life threatening injury.
Ortiz is awaiting extradition to Atlantic County, NJ.
