The vote by members of Local 54 of the Unite Here union leaves exact logistics for a strike up to its contract negotiation team. They voted on Wednesday, June 15.
They seek significant pay hikes in their contracts which expired on May 31, the union has said.
A union leader said that 95 percent of the "several thousand" union members who voted supported a strike if new contracts are not reached by July.
The vote authorized the negotiating committee to call a July 1 strike against the Borgata and the three casinos owned by Caesars Entertainment — Caesars, Harrah’s and Tropicana — and a July 3 strike against Hard Rock if new contracts are reached by then.
Bethany Holmes, a spokeswoman for Local 54 of Unite Here, the main union representing workers at nine Atlantic City casinos, said more than 6,000 members were eligible to vote.
In addition to housekeepers, Local 54 represents food and beverage workers, bartenders and catering staff.
After contracts expired on May 31, workers picketed on the Boardwalk to demand raises.
Holmes previously declined to say how much of a raise the union is seeking but said it's meant to keep up with inflation and the cost of living.
