Firefighters Battle Major Blaze In Egg Harbor Township

Firefighters were battling a major fire along Route 40 in Egg Harbor Township, authorities said.

The fire broke out after noon on Thursday, Oct. 19 west of Spruce Avenue, according to the New Jersey Department of Transportation.

Egg Harbor police advised motorists to avoid the area of the Black Horse Pike and Fernwood Avenue.

An unconfirmed report said that the fire involved storage units.

One right lane of two lanes was closed, the DOT said.
